So... how long is The Big Wait exactly? The answer is that each case is a law unto itself... it depends on your individual circumstances and heaps of other things like whether your app was complete when you submitted it, whether your case officer goes on leave or is off sick, etc etc... in short, it's very hard to judge how long The Big Wait will really be. But that doesn't stop us all from wanting to compare with others, so here are some recent submissions to the Canada Coffee Club for you to work with. Marlene Applied: CHC Buffalo Total wait: 10 months At last our visas are on their way to us from Seattle. I have been corresponding for about 2 hours with such a nice lady who needed a few things from us and she has just e-mailed to say the visas will be printed on Friday and sent to family in Vancouver where they will be couriered down to us. Applied 28 July 2000 through Buffalo Requested for interview on 18 April 2001 in Seattle Did medicals just before we left. Had a slight hiccup with proof of liquid funds - soon sorted out - sent wrong papers. May - finally... e-mail to say visas have been granted. I feel like a child at Christmas time. I guess for us this is a historical day. We received our visa's this afternoon. The history: Applied at Pretoria CHC : 21 June 1999 Confirmed receipt of documents: 28 July 1999 Waivered interview: August 2000 Did & submit medicals: Oct 2000 Requested more SADF info: Feb 2001 Printed visa's: 29 March 2001 Received visa's: 20 April 2001 The future: Heading to Toronto, Ontario Planned landing: September 2001 To Penny, Karen and all the kind people who helped so far - thanks very much. Acknowledgement Receipt-January 2001 Medicals-February 2001 (Then they are sent to Paris for assessement.) Paid Rolf April Received Visas 29th May, 2001. Apparently depends on number of applicants at each embassy which determines processing time of applications. I wish all of you the very best of luck...!!! |
